International Women's Day 2016: West Africa Com announces partnership with INTER'ACTES #MadameDigital initiative

To commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8th March 2016, WEST AFRICA COM is proud to announce a partnership with digital, marketing and public relations agency BAANTOU in Senegal.

The INTER'ACTES initiative comprises a series of events to mobilize policy makers and key stakeholders in the private and public sectors as well as in the development sector in order to increase the visibility of actions supporting the economic autonomy of women and young girl in the West African region through ICT and digital.

Mariam Tendou Kamara, Associate Director of Agence Baantou and initiator of the INTER’ACTES initiative, says: "The establishment of the INTER'ACTES platform comes from observing the low visibility of models of female entrepreneurs, traders, emerging talents or those in training, or of everyday women showing concrete acts of entrepreneurial, academic and socio professional success through the use of ICT and digital. How can we help bring out the stories of women entrepreneurs who have managed to succeed by taking advantage of technological tools offered by the digital age? Whether they are in trade or craft, musicians or designers, vendors or seamstresses, where are these "Madame Digitales”: women of various profiles and backgrounds who have managed to climb over the barriers and take on the digital challenges to innovate, create and advance themselves?"

The pilot phase of the INTER'ACTES from March to June 2016, will focus on women's entrepreneurship and emerging talents in TMT (technology, media and telecommunications) via an interactive dialogue and a digital platform to create interest and the commitment of stakeholders from the private and development sector, in order to initiate thematic discussions and a sharing knowledge and networking.

The pilot phase will culminate with a networking and knowledge-sharing session at the West Africa Com event in Dakar on Thursday 9th June, including a networking lunch followed by panel discussion on “Women Entrepreneurs: Promoting economic development through women’s tech entrepreneurship”.
The debate will be hosted by Mariam Tendou Kamara and will include contributions from, among others, Bitilokho Ndiaye (Technical Advisor on Gender, ICT and Media at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in Senegal), Maïmouna Dia (Director, SenTrust), Gnagna Mariann Konate (Founder & Director, Axis Intelligent Strategy) and Sassoum Niang (Country Manager, Kaymu Senegal ).
